CSK ARE OFF THE MARK!No win toss, win match here in Mumbai today as CSK picked up a 23-run win over RCB to get their first points on the board. It was a web that CSK’s spinners spun over RCB, who lost early wickets and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They couldn’t get partnerships going, which was crucial in a chase as steep as 217. Mahesh Theekshana returned 4-33, while skipper Jadeja had 3-39 as CSK didn’t let RCB out of their watch. Yet, RCB managed to reach 193 thanks to some late blows from Dinesh Karthik and Suyash Prabhudessai. But CSK will be pleased with that win.

They were rescued and revived by a record 165-run stand between Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube earlier. The pair were dealing in sixes as the runs flowed with 156 runs coming off the last 10 overs. Dube remained unbeaten on 95, while Uthappa fell for 88. RCB needed one from their top order to get stuck in and take charge of the innings, which didn’t happen today. They lost their top three within the powerplay.

It was a superb win from CSK, who will be happy with how things turned out today. Hope you enjoyed the game. Until tomorrow, goodbye!

WOW – what a catch! That was a spectacular catch from Rayudu, who threw in the dive and took a one-handed beauty.Jadeja has his third wicket of the night as CSK inch closer towards their first win in the tournament.

Wanindu Hasaranga holes out in the deep as RCB continue to slide.

Theekshana removes Prabhudessai and then gets rid of Shahbaz for 41 in the next over. A nightmare sort of game for RCB. He has his fourth of him and finishes with figures of 4-33.

Five down! The asking rate is now 14 and DK is out in the middle.Prabhudessai looked promising but falls for 34 off 18.

Maxwell is knocked over !!Jadeja gets the big one … RCB are slipping, and fast!

Rawat is trapped leg-before and RCB lose their third!Theekshana has his second for the night.

That’s Kohli right there !! CSK are ecstatic!Mukesh has done it! Dube can do no wrong as he takes it cleanly in the deep!

FAF IS GONE!Huuuge wicket for CSK – Theekshana picks up his maiden IPL wicket! D.u Plessis was looking to free his arms, but he was cramped for room ad it was a mishit straight to long-on.

We’re back for the chase – can RCB chase this down?

WHAT A FINISH!It rained sixes in Mumbai today off the bats of both Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa as CSK finished with a mammoth 216/4! What clean striking !! CSK were on 60 after 10 overs, but after that, RCB couldn’t stem the flow of runs. As many as 83 runs were scored in the last 5 overs.

After being reduced to 36/2 in the 7th over, Uthappa and Dube counterattacked as RCB’s bowlers were taken the cleaners. Uthappa smashed 9 sixes and four boundaries in his 50-ball 88, while Dube had 8 sixes and five fours in his 46-ball 95. No RCB bowler could pose any questions to the pair that shared a 165-run stand that came off just 74 balls.

Akash Deep conceded 58 runs in his four, while the otherwise economical Wanindu Hasaranga gave away 35 in his two overs. The most economical on the night was Hazlewood, but even he went over 8 an over.

It’s not going to be an easy chase at all for RCB, but they have the arsenal to chase the total down. Join us in a bit.

Two wickets in an over! The mammoth stand between Dube and Uthappa has come to an end. They’ve been dealing in sixes here. Uthappa holes out bringing to an end a 165-run stand off just 74 balls.

OUT! Oh, dear, it’s a no-ball! Siraj has overstepped!Uthappa gets a life on 80. How much will RCB have to pay for that?

CSK last five overs: 13, 13, 19, 13, 15. What a big momentum shift! Now RCB are staring at 180+ at least. Uthappa and Dube have done brilliantly here in their century stand

In 10 overs, all CSK have managed is 60/2

A terrible mix-up between the batsmen and Moeen Ali is run out for 3.This is a disappointing start for CSK.

OUT! Hazlewood strikes in his second over.Ruturaj’s struggles continue at the top of the order. This time he’s trapped leg before after missing one that was going through to knock over the stumps. Only just. Umpire’s call.

Pitch report:It’s a very, very dry pitch which is already dusty, reckons Swann. Good news for the spinners.

This is CSK’s 200th IPL match.

One side that hasn’t been able to pick up a win in this edition of the tournament in four games. And the other has three wins on the trot. Hello, and welcome to the South Indian derby of the Indian Premier League. The struggling Chennai Super Kings are up against the high-flying Royal Challengers Bangalore at the DY Patil Academy.

CSK haven’t been able to hit their straps in the tournament yet, struggling for any kind of momentum. They’re missing their strike bowler in Deepak Chahar who is suffering from a back injury, and who may potentially even miss the entire tournament. The bowlers haven’t been able to deliver early wickets, nor have the batters really done anything noteworthy. Mildly put, they’re struggling across departments.

RCB, meanwhile, after a first loss, have bounced back in style to march to a hat-trick of wins. They’re boosted by the addition of Glenn Maxwell to their XI who hit the winning runs in the last game against Mumbai Indians. They’re positioned at No. 3, tied with four other teams. A win tonight will take them to the top of the table. Under du Plessis, they’re looking like a side that not just has all bases covered, but are striking cohesively.
