The 49ers are hoping to make Levi’s Stadium the host for Super Bowl 60 or 61, according to team president Al Guido.
Guido made the announcement at the 49ers’ annual State of the Franchise event, which was recorded recently and was aired online for the first time on Wednesday. Levi’s Stadium last hosted the game for Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016. Guido says the team hopes to bring the game back to Levi’s Stadium in 2026 (Super Bowl LX) or 2027 (Super Bowl LXI).
“We are talking to the NFL and all of our partners around the ability to bring Super Bowl 60 and / or 61 back to the Bay Area and Levi’s Stadium,” Guido said.
The next Super Bowl (Super Bowl LVII) will be played in State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Super Bowl will make its Las Vegas debut at Allegiant Stadium for Super Bowl LVIII, then will head to the Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX in 2025.
The 49ers are also hoping to see World Cup games end up in Levi’s Stadium in 2026. Hosting duties for the 2026 World Cup will be spread out between a number of cities in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. San Francisco is one of 16 US cities bidding for what could be as many as 10 US hosting sites.
Host winners will be announced Thursday. Other US cities in the running include Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York / New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington, DC, while Mexico (Guadalajara , Monterrey, Mexico City) and Canada (Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver) have three cities each competing for bids.
“We have been bidding on the World Cup for 2026,” Guido said. “I think it’s an amazing opportunity for all of us.”

49ers OL Aaron Banks: ‘I think I’m in a better place this year’
The San Francisco 49ers seem confident that second-year offensive lineman Aaron Banks can step in for Laken Tomlinson, who left this offseason via free agency for the New York Jets. Banks appeared in nine games last season, all coming after Week 9. However, only five of his 49 snaps were on offense. The rest came on special teams. All five offensive snaps came in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 49ers are hoping for more out of Tomlinson’s successor. They challenged him to work on his stamina and quickness over the past year, and it sounds like the offensive lineman has answered the challenge. “That’s where our strength and conditioning people have

49ers’ Jeff Wilson says Trey Lance is’ maturing at a rapid pace, ‘talks fantasy football slap
There has been a lot of debate surrounding the pace of Trey Lance’s development as the quarterback enters his second season with the San Francisco 49ers — likely his first as an NFL starter. While the national media pushes the narrative of doubt in the 22-year-old player, teammates and 49ers coaches continue to express confidence in Lance. Need proof of their confidence in Lance? The 49ers have been trying to trade their starter of the past four-and-a-half seasons, Jimmy Garoppolo, all offseason. Of course, that stalled when Garoppolo underwent shoulder surgery on March 8, and his status remains in limbo. Count running back Jeff Wilson Jr. among the 49ers players who have been impressed with Lance’s development compared to the quarterback’s rookie

What DeMeco Ryans said about the 49ers defense during OTAs
San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans spoke with reporters during the second week of organized team activities. Here is everything he had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. It didn’t seem like you actually lacked any confidence last year, like you weren’t swimming or anything, but can you approach this year differently just because it’s not your first year? “I think with anything, when you do things over and over again, you get the reps, you do get more comfortable with it, so it being my second year doing this, there is a more of a comfort level in me doing it. But things from that standpoint, not a lot has changed.I’m still pushing the envelope to see how much

Game slowing down for hard-working 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga
Talanoa Hufanga is involved in an open competition to win the starting safety job next to veteran Jimmie Ward. Hufanga is entering his second NFL season. He started just three games last season but was in and out of the lineup through 15 games. “Just him seeing the game last year got him that much more comfortable this year,” Ward said of his defensive teammate. “He’s covering. He has great angles in the run fit, and he knows his stuff.” Hufanga has a pretty good mentor. He continues to work with Hall of Fame safety Troy Polamalu. “I just try to take every day one day at a time, continue to work on my weaknesses, work on my strengths,” Hufanga said
