Burlington High School’s girls tennis team remained undefeated with a 6-3 Southeast Conference dual victory over Mount Pleasant at the Dankwardt Park courts Thursday night.
The Grayhounds won four singles matches and two in doubles.
Macy McGinity defeated Mount Pleasant’s Melanie Olivas, 8-2, at No, 2 singles. The Grayhounds also won at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles. Emily Mosley blanked Gisele Fajardo, 8-0; Grace Hecox topped Malena Yocum, 8-1, and Hannah Wegmann defeated Eva Rounceville, 8-3.
BHS won at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles. Mosley and Hecox defeated Yocum and Victoria Smith, 8-0, and Wegmann and Kylie Wolf beat Eliana Situmeang and Mary Kate Peterson, 8-4.
Mount Pleasant won Nos. 1 and 6 singles and No. 1 double. At No, 1 singles, Savannah Walls improved to 3-1 on the season with an 8-3 win over Burlington’s Emily Woodsmall. At No. 6, Situmeang beat Wolf, 8-5. In doubles, Walls and Olivas survived Woodsmall and McGinity, 9-7.
Burlington (4-0) plays at Keokuk Monday. Mount Pleasant (0-4) hosts Fort Madison Friday and Maharishi Tuesday.

BURLINGTON 6, MOUNT PLEASANT 0: Burlington’s Brennen Winke scored three goals and the Grayhounds blanked Mount Pleasant in a Southeast Conference match at Bracewell Stadium.
Burlington improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The Grayhounds play at Fort Madison (4-3, 3-0) Monday.
Brian Velazquez, Ridge Atteberry and Mateo Wier each scored a goal for Burlington. Matthew Mercer, Braden Schoene, Eddy Valdez and Atteberry each had an assist.
BHS goalkeeper Sheltyn Anderson picked up the shutout with one save.
Mount Pleasant (2-5, 0-3) hosts Fairfield Monday.
FORT MADISON 13, KEOKUK 0: Mitchell Pothitakis finished with four goals and an assist to guide the Bloodhounds past Keokuk in a Southeast Conference match at the Baxter Sports Complex in Fort Madison.
The Bloodhounds’ Xander Wellman had three goals and a assist. Leif Boeding had two goals and three assists. Nathan Bowman scored two goals and added an assist. Henry Graham and Reiburn Turnbull each scored a goal. Graham, Turnbull, Ben Ramatowski, Dayton Davis and Noah Swigart each had an assist.
Fort Madison (4-3, 3-0) hosts Burlington (4-0, 3-0) Monday. Keokuk (1-4, 1-2) hosts Mid-Prairie Friday and plays a conference match at Washington Monday.

FORT MADISON 4, KEOKUK 0: Teagan Snaadt had a goal and two assists to lead the Bloodhounds past Keokuk in a Southeast Conference match.
Natalie Randolph added a goal and an assist and Alana Simpson and Taegan Denning each scored a goal. Coree James had an assist. Taylor Johnson picked up the shutout with two saves.
Fort Madison (3-1, 3-0) plays at Burlington Monday. Keokuk (2-4, 0-3) hosts Washington Monday.
WEST CENTRAL 15, UNITED 0: The Heat needed just four innings to top Monmouth United via the mercy rule at Monmouth, Illinois.
Bryanna Seitz and Shelby Bowman had three hits each for West Central. Bowman had two doubles and four RBIs and Bryanna Seitz had a double. MacKenzy Ludington and Addie Seitz each had two singles.
Addie Seitz was the winning pitcher, giving up no runs on three hits and no walks in three innings. She fanned seven. Maddie Hepner took the loss.
DEMONS WIN SEC MEET: Mount Pleasant’s Nick Matheney was a medalist with a 2-over 38, but Washington topped the team standings in a Southeast Conference meet at Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club.
Washington carded a 177 for the win. Mount Pleasant was second at 182 and was followed by Fairfield (183), Fort Madison (196) and Keokuk (219).
Also playing for Mount Pleasant were Reece Kempker (42), Nate Dismang (48), Reece Coffman (54), Izaac Zihlman (61) and Ben Meador (66).
Tyler Wade paced Fort Madison with a 39. His teammates were Brady Wade (51), Brennan Ulik (52), Jordan Simpson (54), Emmett Kruse (56) and Aiden Pennock (61).
Jordan Sisk led Keokuk with a 45. Other Chiefs were Nick Profeta (56), Bryor Lindner (59), Alex Capaldo (59), Ayden O’Conner (65) and Jaydan Thomas (65).
BHS’s BRIGGS IS MEDALIST: Burlington’s Lauren Briggs was a medalist with a 2-over 39, but Washington won the team title in a Southeast Conference meet at Elks Fairview Golf Club in Keokuk.
Washington won with 195 strokes and was followed by Fairfield (205), Burlington (210) and Keokuk (211). Mount Pleasant and Fort Madison didn’t have enough players for a team score.
Also playing for Burlington were Izzy Taylor (52), Edie Blom (56), Elaina Murders (63), Sophia Ball (68) and Addison Kite (81).
Natalie Ames led Keokuk with a 43. Other Chiefs were Chloe Ruhl (55), Heidi Rose (56), Kaylie Watson (57), Allison Ames (58) and Anna Hinton (62).
Mount Pleasant had two players – Sammi Wibben (42) and Kylie Walderbach (53). Fort Madison also had two players – Ellanore Wright (55) and Lucy Arevelo (83).
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
LIBERTY WINS RELAYS: Iowa City Liberty rolled up 168.5 points to win the 22-team Denny White Relays in Mount Pleasant.
Mediapolis was third with 127 points, New London (102) was fifth, Mount Pleasant (98) sixth, Fort Madison (93) seventh, Van Buren County (69) ninth, Danville (63.5) 10th, WACO (57.5) 12th, Winfield -Mount Union (49) 13th, Wapello (45) 14th, Central Lee (42) 15th, West Burlington-Notre Dame (40) was 16th, Louisa-Muscatine (32) 17th, Keokuk (22) 20th and the Mount Pleasant junior varsity finished 21st with 11 points.
Fort Madison won three events in Class A. Mikey DiPrima won the high jump, clearing 5-10. The Bloodhound 800-meter medley relay team of Tate Settles, Tate Johnson, Hayden Segoviano and Andrew Schaeffer won in 1: 40.96. Johnson won the 100-meter dash in 11.27 seconds.
West Burlington-Notre Dame and Mount Pleasant each won one event in Class A. Mount Pleasant’s Keegan Elliott won the discus with a toss of 138-0. The WB-ND 4×200 relay team of Jack Riley, Grant Boal, Owen Gulick and Jace Figuereo won in 1: 33.10.
New London won seven events in Class B, including Josh Catala in the 200 (23.26), Rylan Martin in the 800 (2: 02.54), Alexander Julian in the 3,200 run (10: 09.78), Kade Benjamin in high jump (6- 4) and Carter Allen in discus (164-1).
The Tigers won both medley relays. Boden Pickle, Joel Lacy, Camden Kassel and Reean Seberg won the 800 medley in 1: 43.16. Catala, Jordan Sharp, Rylan Martin and Seth Bailey won the 1,600 medley in 3: 41.73.
Mediapolis won four events. Levi Arnold won the 400 dash in 53.26. Cole Lipper, Kadin Salek, Ben Egan and Anthony Isley won the 4×200 relay in 1: 34.11. Salek, Arnold, Logan Rosas and Isley won the 4×400 in 3: 29.40. Owen Schmidgall, Arnold, Solomon Zaugg and Rosas won the 4×800 at 8:41 p.m.
Louisa-Muscatine, Danville, WACO, Van Buren County, Wapello, Winfield-Mount Union and Central Lee each won one event.
LM’s Spencer Kessel won the shot put at 53-6. Danville’s Ty Carr won the 1,600 run in 4: 45.19. Van Buren County’s Wyatt Mertens won the long jump at 20-7 3/4. Winfield-Mount Union’s Gabriel Hemsworth won the 400-meter hurdles in 1: 00.72. Central Lee’s Thomas Eschman won the 110-meter hurdles in 17.04 seconds.
Wapello’s Tyler Palmer, Tade Parsons, Maddox Griffin and Jake Gustison won the 4×100 in 44.80. WACO’s Simeon Reichenbach, Isaac Oswald, Zach Schmitz and Mason Miller won the 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay in 1: 09.12.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
PANTHERS CAPTURE RELAY TITLE: Mount Pleasant scored 185 points to win its own eight-team Denny White Relays.
Van Buren County finished second with 176 points and was followed by Fort Madison (126), West Burlington-Notre Dame (119), Central Lee (109), Mount Pleasant junior varsity (91), Keokuk (60) and Centeville (32) .
Mount Pleasant won 11 events in Class A. Kenna Lamm won the 200-meter dash in 27.78 and the 100-meter hurdles in 16.73. Alexis Wagner won the 800 in 2: 46.0. Abby Blint won the 400-meter hurdles at 1: 12.70. Jenna Gilmore won the long jump with a leap of 15-0 3/4. Poor Brumbaugh won the shot put at 43-10.
The Panthers won five relays. Bailey Jalas, Tristian Shull, Jenna Gilmore and Mica Carter won the 4×200 in 1: 57.41. Carter, Allie Westercamp, Wagner and Andi Scott won the 4×400 in 4: 29.12.
The Panther quartet of Jalas, Courtney Raub, Andrea Lopreato and Scott won the 800-meter medley relay in 2: 02.31. Bizzie Richtman, Lopreato, Elsie Lange and Blint won the 1,600 medley in 4: 45.91. Jenna Gilmore, Blint, Josie Gilmore and Lamm won the 4×100 shuttle hurdles in 1: 11.01.
West Burlington-Notre Dame won four events in Class A. Ava Parkins won the 100 dash at 13.43. Jenna Bentz won the 400 in 1: 02.48. Maisey Belger won the discus with a toss of 116-4. Kenna Marlow, Parkins, Amiya Davis and Katy Stephens won the 4×100 in 51.56.
Fort Madison won two Class A events – Paetyn Wiegand in the 1,500 (5: 44.79) and Aija Jenkins in high jump (4-10).
Keokuk’s Rylee Olsen won the 3,000-meter run at 13: 00.59.
In Class B, Van Buren County won eight events, Mount Pleasant’s junior varsity won five and Central Lee had four wins.
Van Buren County’s Shea Scott won the 100 dash in 15.45, Cadence Nusbaum won the 200 in 29.78 and Payton Wiley won the 400 in 1: 14.57. The Warriors’ Faith Neeley won the 800 in 2: 46.91, Peyton Poling won the 1,500 in 5: 46.93 and Libby Bainbridge won the high jump, clearing 4-4.
Van Buren County won two relays. Reece Kracht, Scott, Kelcy Welch and Madelyn Johnson won the 4×200 in 2: 05.44. Kracht, Johnson, Nusbaum and Neeley won the 800-meter medley in 2: 06.72.
The Mount Pleasant junior varsity won four Class B individual events and one relay. Josie Gilmore won the 100-meter hurdles at 18.89. Jalas won the long jump (14-5), Alyssa Dascher won the shot put (32-7) and Brumbaugh won the discus (108-8).
Central Lee’s Aubrey Hand won the 3,000 meters in 14: 19.65. The foursome of Alivia Myhre, Kamryn Cox, MaKayla Howard and Karlie Pohren won the 4×400 in 4: 46.96 and the 1,600 medley in 4: 56.64. Myhre, Allison Kerr, Kodi Moeller and Abby Simmons won the 4×100 shuttle hurdle relay in 1: 21.09.
